HISTORY OF THE COIN CIRCULATION IN CUBA

The circulation of coins began in Cuba with the arrival of the Spaniards in 1492. Coins of various origins and manufacture were used throughout the colonial period and the first decades of the twentieth century The first national coinage finally became a reality thanks to the enactment of the Law of Economic Defence on October 29th, 1914. Since then, the coins have continued to be minted reflecting the historical vicissitudes through which the country has transited.
