This book describes the worrying scenario that reflects the urgency and importance of dealing with the situation of environmental migrants, especially considering that the environmental migration crisis is already greater than the migratory crisis due to war refugees. The first major problem in this environmental context is that there is no specific rule in international law to address this issue.
In the face of this problem, far from exhausting all possible solutions on the theme, this book intended to plant a seed of reflection, based on an analysis of the current legal and political context, and outlining the possible paths to follow.

Viviane Passos is a teacher and researcher specializing in environmental and international law. She did her postdoctorate studies in environmental law at University of CastillaLa Mancha (2017), and received her PhD in public law (with an emphasis in water law and governance) from the University of Seville (2015), her masters degree in environmental law and policy (2009) from State University of Amazonas, and a postgraduate degree in tax law and sustainable development (2006) from the Federal University of Amazonas. She acted in the OECD Water Governance Programme (2014), and has been a university and postgraduation professor since 2009. Currently, she is involved with migrant integration projects. She is also the author of the book Integrated and Participative Water Management in Brazil and Spain: an Analysis of Comparative Law (written in Spanish).
Diana Viveiros is a researcher specializing in international security and human rights law. She received a masters in strategic studies of defense and international security (20172018) from the Fluminense Federal University, where she was tutoring undergraduate students in international relations. Since 2010, she has been a volunteer teacher-researcher at a nonprofit organization on education and research. She is an associate member of the Brazilian Academy of International Law (ABDI) and the Brazilian Association of Defense Studies (ABED), and a researcher at the Brazilian Research Network on Peace Operations (REBRAPAZ). She is also the author of the book Enjoying Academic Life Productively (written in portuguese).
